When We Slept Together in the Blue Behind Your Eyelids

A small wooden jewelry box purchased from an antique store has been refurbished: stripped of its yellowed shellac to reveal a warm bare wood and the once sticky brass hardware shined to look new again. A blue-grey velvet lines the lid and bottom of the box. Ten slip cast ceramic spheres are arranged in the box, each with a single word stamped on it so that they read out a lyric from a Lucinda Williams song:

 Secured by a small heart lock, the box is closed when at rest. A delicate key hung on a chain is worn by the artist when performing the piece. Viewers can unlock the box to read the message inside but are asked to lock it back up again so that each
